About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Procurement Category Manager to join our team. In this role, you will ensure reliable supply of chemical raw materials and contract manufacturing for the synthesis and formulation of coatings and adhesives. This Associate develops the category strategy and leads its implementation and execution. This category supports manufacturing operations for the Fabrics.

 

This position will be located at our Elk Mills 1 facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

 
Responsibilities: 
  • Create and implement the procurement category strategy
  • Own and manage supplier relationships; lead supplier performance management across the supplier network
  • Develop the supply network (existing & new suppliers) to create access to technologies and sources
  • Identify and drive strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Lead contract negotiations to deliver the required service and performance levels
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand and serve the needs of the business
  • Assess supply risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans
  • Perform supplier and market analysis and provide insights to stakeholders 
 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field (engineering, science) or supply chain management
  • Minimum 5 years or more experience in strategic sourcing/category management
  • Strategic mindset capable of embedding and aligning procurement process and goals with overall business objectives and anticipating future market trends and challenges
  • Capability to drive difficult negotiations to successful outcomes
  • Skilled leader of and participant in cross-functional projects
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement a sourcing strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable, both within teams and with suppliers
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
  • Experience with chemicals

 

Hybrid Working Arrangements are permitted for Associates in the continental United States (US) and Canada, with appropriate approval and compliance with Gore’s hybrid working policies, from the country in which they are employed.
