About the Role: We are looking for a Leader to support and provide leadership for the Sterilization Team in partnership with multiple functional teams. This role requires collaborative leadership of the sterilization function within GM and leadership of a technical team to deliver effective sterilization solutions.  The sterilization leader will build on existing capabilities and lead through change to support an increased rate of innovation within GM while increasing the efficiency of commercial product sterilization support. This associate will also work within the framework of Finished Goods Supply Chain (FGSC) which includes Packaging, Labeling, Distribution & Logistics, Product Data Management, and Manufacturing Operations in addition to Sterilization and will be passionate about providing excellent customer service and collaborate cross functionally with other leaders and teams across commercial support, new product development, and other functions.

 

This position will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff or Phoenix, Arizona, or in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $140,000 - $190,000 per year
  • Roles above $150k are eligible for the variable pay program each fiscal year, based on defined business performance metrics.

Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure ongoing development and execution of a sterilization strategy that aligns with Gore business goals and meets product needs; ensure sterilization support of technology, NPD, and manufacturing projects in Gore Medical; listen and understand internal customers’ concerns/needs and provide solutions that meet their needs and align with sterilization and FGSC strategies
  • Ensure continuous improvement of sterilization and microbiology processes and procedures
  • Ensure team conformity to industry guidance/standards, adoption of good practices; support associate active involvement in guidance/standards committees and industry discussion related to sterilization and sterilization microbiology
  • Support associate development based on individual P&D and team current future needs: areas to consider for associate development include audit support, adoption of industry best practices and externa standards, sterilization pFMEA/dFMEA content, re-qualifications, NPD support, and leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities
  • Promote integration of sterilization and microbiology with other functions related to sterility assurance (such as packaging, environmental monitoring) to foster a sterility assurance perspective within Gore Medical
  • Ensure Sterilization Supply Chain risks are identified, and mitigation plans are prepared and ready for execution and resolve sterilization issues with appropriate resources and escalation as needed
  • Champion, practice and espouse our culture to ensure an inclusive team environment with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Ensure an effective hiring process for sterilization technical associates and Support Contribution and Compensation Process for the Sterilization Team
  • Own and support the sterilization investment and allocation forecast to support the business needs; assist in cost center ownership or cost center review roles for three core sterilization cost centers
  • Establish clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and act immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior 

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 year engineering or technical degree and minimum of 10 years working on a team handling multiple projects and priorities with at least 3 of those years in Medical and/or Life Sciences and minimum 5 years leadership experience
  • Experience setting clear team and individual expectations and holding self and others to committed deliverables/outcomes in a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Track record of natural leadership, inclusive of followership and skills relevant to the functional leadership and team leadership aspects of this commitment and demonstrated experience developing other leaders
  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration in technical, quality, regulatory and supply chain contexts
  • Demonstrated success using metrics and data to identify and prioritize work, make decisions, as well as monitor progress and impact
  • History of rapid integration into team leadership roles, establishing credibility, working knowledge of processes and standards, and connecting team priorities and objectives to overall strategy
  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and present to all levels in the organization
  • Ability to articulate and communicate clear direction and vision and align team objectives and initiatives to broad organizational strategy, as well as coach, teach, and mentor team members.
  • Ability to partner and collaborate broadly across multiple teams and functions while supporting multiple, simultaneous, team-based technical/operational efforts; and manage relationships and performance of strategic external partners
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
 

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years experience leading Leaders 
  • Experience developing and launching new products or supporting these efforts and/or experience in commercial manufacturing or supporting manufacturing
  • Knowledge of the various disciplines required to achieve sterility assurance
