About the Role:  Gore Incubator is looking for a Innovation and Business Development Intrapreneur to join our team. In this role, you will champion the development of new materials, technology and ideas through the seed/early stage and pilot scale manufacturing to enable new ventures, products, and businesses that fold into our operating companies or into Gore Ventures. Success in the commitment will require leveraging lean innovation processes, cultivating a strong understanding of Gore’s new materials technologies and its key properties/capabilities, developing relationships with customers and key opinion leaders, and integrating both internal and external resources.

  

This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify unmet customer needs to generate new product/technology concepts and the business models that support them
  • Integrate a variety of disciplines, including engineering, manufacturing, finance, legal, business, marketing, and sales, for project success
  • Rapidly identify, explore, assess, and confirm potential opportunities for novel technologies and materials in new business areas for Gore
  • Develop and validate a viable the business model and value capture associated with a new opportunity and a vision for a broader portfolio and business strategy
  • Build a compelling funnel of opportunities that results in technology/market/product adoption by the operating companies or ventures at least every 2 years
  • Communicate and connect both technology capabilities and market unmet needs to drive action and value
  • Scout new technologies and start ups
 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business fields
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience demonstrating the ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams as a product specialist/business leader/product manager; with minimum 4 years experience in the electronics, semiconductor, carbon capture, or hydrogen production markets
  • Experience in identification, critical evaluation (financial and business model) and validation of attractive business opportunities using established frameworks (such as lean start up) to quickly and efficiently develop new viable businesses
  • Proven track record of creating business value across all phases of the product lifecycle (idea to commercialization)
  • Proven and consistent track record of connecting materials and technology solutions with solving customer problems to create new products and/or businesses
  • Actively demonstrates Gore’s guiding principles and fosters an environment of inclusion, authenticity, and humility
  • Communicates directly and effectively with Associates to resolve challenges regardless of their role or difference of opinion
  • Ability to travel 25-50%

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD, MBA) in the engineering, science, or business fields
  • Strong background in material science with experience in guiding direction of technology development and its application
