About the Role:  W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. is looking for a versatile and experienced Multicraft Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role requires a wide range of technical skills to perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical manufacturing systems. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.   This is an evening shift position, 2:00pm-10:00pm (Mon-Fri).

  

This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland. ​​

 

Please note that evening, night and weekend shift positions are eligible for an additional $2/hour shift differential pay (in California, the shift differential pay is $2.40/hour).

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in manufacturing and lab environments 
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify potential problems before they become major issues
  • Perform basic to intermediate fabrications and machine modifications using standard machine shop equipment  
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members and departments to ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Work in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and quality system to document completed maintenance activities 
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide on-call support as needed, including off shift and weekend support 
  • Drive continuous personal development goals aligned with current commitments and business needs 
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program with at least 2 years of experience, or possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment
  • Ability to utilize shop equipment, such as lathes, mills, and drill presses, for repairs and fabrications
  • A thorough grasp of pneumatics and hydraulics systems 
  • Basic electrical skills and understanding of OSHA, NEC, NFPA codes  
  • Desktop computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office applications 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment with an ability to organize and prioritize work in a rapidly changing environment 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Flexibility to respond to on-call emergencies and able to work overtime and weekends 
  • Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs.
  • Travel up to 5%

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Competent welding and fabrication skills (mig, tig. stick)
  • Computerized Maintenance Management system experience
  • Web handling experience and PLC exposure

This role requires pre-hire medical clearance by Gore which may include testing to assess visual acuity and/or the ability to wear specific safety equipment as required during the performance of the role.
