About the Role: We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the Gore Medical Components organization that supplies our Medical Products Division. As a Quality Engineer in GMC you will contribute to intermediate product quality across the supply chain, including validation and sampling of intermediates, quality issue root cause analysis and resolution, continuous improvement of our product documentation and risk management.

 

This position will be located at our Woody Mountain facility in Flagstaff, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

 
Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure product quality across the supply chain: evaluate & appropriately document non-conforming material, identify & resolve quality issues, and drive process/product changes  
  • Apply formal problem-solving techniques to determine root cause, troubleshoot non-conforming products, raw materials, and components, and develop and implement corrective action request (CAR) plans 
  • Partner cross-functionally, both internally and externally to Gore, to understand fitness-for-use requirements and support the specification development of new and derivative products 
  • Develop and validate test methods / inspections in order to evaluate components and materials  
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments based on statistical techniques including sampling plans 
  • Drive risk-based assessment as it pertains to product risk (e.g., Control Plans, DFMEA, environmental/cross-contamination controls, etc.)
  • Identify and monitor key product performance measures (SQC) and drive improvement 
  • Evaluate, select, and validate components and materials from various potential supply sources  
 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Science field, with at least 3 years of hands-on engineering work experience
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving approach (such as 8D, 8-Step, DMAIC or PDCA) that drives root cause analysis using 5-Why, Why Trees, and Fishbone analysis
  • Ability to identify critical issues and failure modes, assess root cause including effective risk-based decision making, and create a framework of action to address these issues
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals and statistical tools to development, optimization, or troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and drive multiple projects concurrently from development to completion against agreed upon timelines and deliverables
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team, including influencing across functions
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience in a Regulated Industry
  • Experience with quality systems, documentation, and methodologies (for example, GMP, ISO 9001, APQP, House of Quality, etc.)
