About the Role: We are looking for a Veterinary Pathologist to join our team! Medical device pathology at Gore offers a dynamic and rewarding work context in which the pathologist’s expertise is a critical input throughout device development, from early prototype iteration to mature product safety testing. In this role, you will be a member of the Biosciences’ Pathology team that supports the development of state-of-the art implantable medical devices, including but not limited to vascular grafts, endovascular and interventional devices, cardiac devices, surgical meshes, and sutures. You will utilize pathology training and experience to assess the performance and safety of medical devices in various animal models and implant locations in a regulated environment. This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. 

 
Responsibilities: 
  • Execute gross and microscopic analysis of medical devices for a diverse array of device categories to include cardiovascular, soft tissue and other applications
  • Compile data and write concise pathology reports, internal white papers, and external peer reviewed articles
  • Present data in written and verbal forms for settings including pathology reports, presentations, and educational courses
  • Interface with project teams to discuss evaluations and analyses
  • Input as a subject matter expert on non-clinical study protocols, and regulatory-related efforts (responses, clinical trials, etc.)
  • Interact closely with study directors, research scientists, pathology technicians, histotechnicians, pathologists’ assistants, clinical veterinarians, internal/external regulatory associates, product team associates (engineers), and medical personnel
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to good laboratory practice (GLP) guidelines, institutional animal care policies, and federal animal welfare regulations
  • Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required within the scope of position
 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA accredited or equivalent institution
  • Advanced (residency) training in veterinary anatomic pathology
  • ACVP board certification or board eligibility (anatomic)
  • Strong collaborative communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Enthusiasm and a team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Advanced research training (MS or PhD)
  • Expertise in medical device pathology
  • Experience in a GLP compliant environment
